Basketball and moi
A little boring history before you find out a little more about NOW =P
I started playing around with a basketball when I was 11. (Playing around = bouncing with two hands, and attempting to shoot from the 45 degree angle.) Then I stopped when I was 12, and continued when I joined a private team and resumed playing in Form 1. However, I pulled out from that private team when I was in Form 2. Then I continued at school, and I still am.
I was also the 'Pioneer' of my school's girl basketball team. To go into deeper detail, there was no official girls basketball team until a stubborn little Form 1 girl a.k.a. Lex, refused to stop attending the older guys basketball practise, even though all the other girls didnt turn up for practises and only came when there was a competition (and when the school was desperate).
I mean, just picture an indoor court, with several big, tall Form 2, 3 and 4 guys doing drills and somewhere standing akwardly as she attempts to keep up, is this "sesat"-ed little Form 1 girl looking up and around with two round, innocent eyes...
I still don't know how I managed.
Anyways, the other girls finally started to turn up, *heaves sigh of relief*, though I think some of them joined cause they wanted to meet "Leng Zhai". You want proof? Well, the moment we had enough girls to play a decent game, the coach gave us our own practise time on the court, with no guys...
Most of the girls disappeared overnight.
Well, anyways, that was just your average run of basketball. Pass straight, dribble low and straight, shoot with this posture and all that. (P.S. Still can't shoot. Sorry Coach. >.<) It was basically repetitious basic foundation training, and it worked pretty fine for me for awhile. That is, before I met...
Nabil and Ani.
For those of you read The Star Metro, Nabil and Ani were the tied champions of last years StarMetro In Search Of Freestylists competition, which was a side event of the AND1 Streetball Challenge. The duo, used to practise together without fail at school everyday, Sri Cempaka, Cheras. However, the last time I saw Nabil was Form 4, two years ago, and Ani, just finished International last year.
Both were really good with their streetball moves, they literally danced on the hardwood and defied gravity. The ball swirled any way the maestros wanted it to and they manipulated the ball to obey their will. I even played a few games with them. Obviously, I got trashed pretty badly a couple of times. Owch. But nonetheless, the stubborn little girl is still alive, and she's still trying to learn how to be a little more flexible and creative when she handles the ball.
I think. >.>
So... anyways, this stubborn little girl grew up, to become a stubborn, little (Still short) BBH (Brainless Butt Head). Some things I just don't learn =P Well, I don't really carbon copy streetball moves, neither am I an obsessed fanatic who practises and watches streetball videos everyday. Uh-uh, I just use that kind of passion for...
Blogging. =P
I'm not exactly the world's best basketballer, but I like to think I have SOME skills. Hey, you win some, you lose some. It's how you play the game that matters.
Besides, just imagine the look on a guy's face when the "little" girl walks off the court after trashing him at basketball, believe you me,
It's Worth It. ;) *Self-sastified smile*
