I was going to change my template since Fiz did too, hehe. But I couldn't really decide so I just added on some stuff in here. I hope you guys enjoyed the chocolate, sorry to Melvin that I forgot to give him one after practise, was a little distracted. ;p The practise yesterday was actually kinda boring though... Didn't do much... O well, at least I had time to read my new book that I picked up from the SPCA jumble sale! It's called Rose Madder and it's by Stephen King, the king of suspense himself. This book is a really great read and I highly recommend it to anyone! If anyone wants to have a look, all you have to do is tell me and I can lend it to you for your reading pleasure. It's about this lady who had been in a 14 year old relationship with her abusive huband, a cop. One day, she gathers the courage and walks away... What happens next? Well, the cover reveals a lot more than at first... ;p
Anyways, the annual debate was this morning. The first topic, "Real Education begins outside the classroom, not inside." It was being debated by Helang and Beruang. Well. obviously, I rooted for Beruang... I even helped them out on research... Sadly, they lost. But I had to admit that it wasn't unfair. Helang did have some pretty good speakers.. Not so many points, but good speakers... After the debate, when it was open to the members of the floor.
Then the audience started contributing points of their own. Hoping to demolish the points of whatever team they opposed. I kinda went up too, and nearly had a heart attack, I felt so akward, one short blur girl standing on the stage with the mike and everyone staring at me. Not the best experience I had... But I did sort of explain that Helang had a tendency to say BASIC education started at school. But weren't basics the simple process of making noises with your mouth, learning to communicate, walk, stand, run? Well, obviously, people don't have to be carried into their classes in kindergarden and stand up talking, the moment they touch the floor of the classroom right? hmm... there's something to chew on... Another point I let loose was based on what the usual chinese students, escpecially in government schools face. They just memorize everything blindly, it goes in one ear and out the other... They get their degrees and Permanent Head Damage [P.H.D] and step out into the cruel world, as blind as a bat and have no idea how to use the information in the heads, hot to implement it into daily life... How can they learn? How can they learn to use learnings, not to work for things, but let things work for them? Point is, real education where we learn, begins when we step out into the world...
Now that's over, the Harimau Vs. Seladang debate, " The world will be a better place without the U.S.A." was controversial and not the most interesting topic. Most of the talk from the debators were of history... and that really make the points they had stale and dry. Once again Jack, I Told You So! Due to that, I merely used most of the time in the freezing North Hall to read my book. The results at the end of it? Seladang won. Sob... well, c'est la vie... Anyways, I hope my fellow Harimaus come and support the Quiz team tomorrow. Any support from other people is also welcome... ;p
Well, I better get out of the YJC room now ,it's freezing! Sufiz was lounging on the couch with the squishy's just now and I was on the brink of nervous laughter, almost hyper freaked! ;p I just couldn't stop laughing and Fiz was like staring at me like "What is wrong with you girl?" LOL! Oh man, here I go again... I think I better stop now... blekz. I'll continue later or something! Ciao.
